During the last 15 year practicing as a registered nurse I have dedicated my professional career to working with burn injured adults. This has given me the opportunity to become knowledgeable in the many dimensions of burn injury and its management to deliver optimum outcomes for burn injured patients. I have worked within the realms of acute and rehabilitative burn care specialising in burn surgery, while working as a Burns Anaesthetic Nurse and Burns Scrub Nurse, and also Burn Rehabilitation while working as a Burns Outreach Specialist Nurse. I have diversified my expertise into the field of education.
For the last five years I have been involved in the organisation and delivery of the Burns Link Nurse Framework, an educational initiative commissioned by the Northern Burn Care Operational Delivery Network which aims to educate all health professionals (who work outside of Burn Centres, but within the sphere of burn injury) in best practice within burn care. I recognise the fundamental importance of the role that education plays in the delivery of quality patient care and impart this ethos into the Burn Course Educator Role. I have an honours degree in Professional Nursing and I am about to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice.
My particular interests include all aspects of patient rehabilitation from burn injury.
